It is quite interesting to see the recent push to tout PON as a "green" technology.
There have been at least 1 or 2 recent articles in trade magazines, low-power submissions to FSAN, and now a talk in China of all places.
The idea of PON as "green" was brought up in an internal marketing meeting at my company about 6 months ago and was rejected as too much of a stretch. A decision made with the same keen analysis that led me to purchase that WebVan stock in 1999.
