So here's an interesting question. Does announcing every little patent really help a company appear more legitimate? After all, you don't see the big guys like AlcaLu sending out a press release every time they are granted a patent.
Sure, something major that gets patented might be newsworthy. If AllOptic had patented the personal transporter, that would be news. But this type of announcement can end up making you look small instead of big.
Not that I haven't made exactly the same types of announcements in my past history. Sometimes you're desperate for any type of publicity, and in the echo chamber a patent announcement sounds pretty good.
